Content Creator’s Guild and Me
I and my colleagues have launched a new community site called Content Creator’s Guild. The purpose of Content Creator’s Guild is to provide an independent, non-brokerage venue for content developers (specifically, creators of 3D content such as that for Poser or Daz Studio) to talk about and promote their content products. The goals of Content Creator’s Guild are:
- Provide a non-brokerage venue for the promotion of independent artist and vendor products; actual selling of content takes place on the independent artists or vendors site, not on Content Creator’s Guild
- Provide a venue other than a brokerage site for independent content creators to discuss their craft and the growing industry of providing digital content licensing
- Provide a community forum for artists and vendors to discuss whatever they have in common interest
Why offer this? If you don’t have the time to read through my blog, I am happy to give you a little background about myself and my interests in digital content.
My background is in international technology distribution - specifically, moving tech companies into new (and often international) markets, getting their products sold into all channels available and expanding their horizons. Since 1997, my company Proactive International has offered this service. We’ve had successful business relations with many major players in the 3D content creation business. We’ve been behind many international expansions, acquisitions and movements into new market spaces - at the strategic level. Along the way, Proactive International developed and spun off Meshbox Design, a creator of 3D licensable content and outsourcing venue.
The 3D software market has created a secondary content licensing market that increasingly is influenced by a limited number of brokerage houses/community sites that provide a venue for a 3D content business to sell their products.
Much like the many software industry associations that have sprung up to help promote the expansion and quality of software industry, the goal of Content Creator’s Guild is to provide a similar platform for content creators that is specifically separate from the venues in which the content is sold - not to compete with those venues - but to promote the craft and success of independent content creators.
If you are a vendor of content (2D, 3D or more), I encourage you to join Content Creator’s Guild to take part.
If you are an artist that licenses third party content, stop on by, and encourage your favorite independent vendor to join Content Creator’s Guild.
