Free Windows Vista and MS Office - Price, Your Soul

Well, not quite your soul, just knowledge of everything you do with the software. You can get started on the Windows feedback page. They have two types of feedback systems - a survey feedback or an embedded tracking solution that the program FAQ says is not spyware.

Although you might not believe it, MS takes great care in its customer research and analysis processes and they follow through with freebies. I was involved in one research study in preparation for Windows 2000 and MS Office 2000, and for very little effort received about $1,000 worth of product.

LinkedIn with Unlinked Option Breaks the Social Contract

LinkedIn seems to be trying to figure out how its supposed to grow in a world of Facebook, MySpace and Ning. Everyone has to have an API to allow developer access to the network and they seem to be towing the line there. But what’s with opting out of showing connections? I joined LinkedIn to share knowledge of who I know - I also want to know who my connections know. You can now make your network invisible to your connections - however its an all or nothing proposition. So why would I share my connections with someone who isn’t willing to do the same?

It makes sense to only make connections visible to those who also opt to make connections visible - that way, if someone wants to suddenly go private, they can no longer access your connections. Going private has its own personal ramifications as well if you put this into a social context. What does it say about someone who has been exposed to your network, only to shut you out later?

I have deleted connections with anyone who has opted to make connections private. If your connection was deleted and you would like to reconnect with me, make your connections available.

Valentina 3.5 Ships with Custom Server Properties

Valentina technology release 3.5 is now available through Paradigma Software and Mirye Software Publishing. There is a lot to like in this release - it includes a lot of new example projects for .net (C# and VB.net), Adobe Director and Runtime Revolution, to help get started with stored procedures and triggers. But the most interesting item is user defined properties for server databases. This represents a new breakthrough in database development – while object-relational and true object-oriented databases have existed for years, treating the database itself as a programmatic object is new, especially when talking about a database server.
